Figure 3 shows that the main age group affected by HIV/AIDS is the 20-49 year age- group. This is true of both sexes. There has been a significant drop in paediatric cases in recent years. Modes of Transmission among People Living with HIV/AIDS 
The 1980’s have seen the major mode of transmission through contaminated blood and blood products. However, these cases declined significantly after the introduction of mandatory screening in blood banks. In the early 1990’s, the identified HIV transmission route was mainly sexual, both hetero and homosexual. This trend is demonstrated in Table 4 above.
