What to do in case:

You suffer from mouth ulcers or pain while swallowing

  • Abstain from eating food that is too hot in temperature or spicy
  • Rinse your mouth with saline water both before and after meals and going to bed
  • Food should be of mashed consistency

You suffer from mouth dryness

  • Drink plenty of water or juices

You suffer from constipation

  • Visit the nearest health centre for advice and treatment
  • Exercise regularly
  • Take a spoonful of vegetable oil before breakfast
  • Have warm baths
  • Apply Vaseline gently to the rectal area

You suffer from diarrhea

  • Visit the nearest health center for advice and treatment
  • Drink lots of fluids  in small quantities
  • Avoid sodas and drink plenty of  oral rehydration fluids which can be prepared at home by mixing a spoonful of sugar or honey with a pinch of salt and the juice of a lemon to one glass of water

You suffer from headaches

  • Visit the nearest health center for advice and treatment
  • Take analgesics after meals

 Remember to always consult your physician in case you have

  • Blood in your stool
  • Persistent diarrhea for more than five days
  • Excessive loss of weight
  • Vomiting with fever
  • Skin tear around the rectal area

How do you reduce the risks of TB transmission?

Tuberculosis has several forms and may be transmitted through cough or sneezing. You may prevent the disease from spreading by

 Taking medication as prescribed by your treating physician.

  • Maintain regular medical check ups for about two years after recovery
  • Testing and follow up for those who may have been in contact with you for the past two years
