The Ministry of Health, represented by all the public health care centers, provides the following services: - Tests for early detection of AIDS
- Specialists to follow up on patients
- Medications for treatment of the various symptoms
- Patient, family and community education
- Antiretroviral Therapy for all PLWHA who need this
- Counseling services to provide support for PLWHA
Counseling Services Well trained counselors can be found in most government health centres and hospitals in all regions across the Sultanate. He/she is there to discuss with you all issues of concern in complete confidentiality. The counselor will assist with the following: - Arrange appointments with the treating physician
- Facilitate any required medical tests to be taken
- Facilitate dispensing appropriate medication
- Explain to family members and friends the nature of the disease
- Resolve any problems that may arise at work and stress the importance of confidentiality regarding your status and non discrimination with your employer
- Ensure you receive all entitlements from Ministry of Social Development in terms of social aid, if necessary
